![]() ![]() Drawing lines with the stylus is fun, but you have to constantly tweak your designs with the menu items. This is a tedious and overly-complicated process. The game's main draw is the "freestyle" mode of creating your own tracks and puzzles. The instruction booklet doesn't explain how to play a track you've downloaded, and there certainly isn't a menu option to "play downloaded tracks." Maybe it shows up once you register! Again, I have no idea. Whether this problem is linked to me refusing to register at a website I'll never visit again, I'll never know. I was still able to download tracks without registering, but for some reason I was unable to actually play them. The very idea that a game's content does not become fully available until you increase its website's traffic is hard to swallow. Imagine if Mario Kart Wii had a track editor, but you couldn’t share your tracks or play other people’s tracks until you registered at the Mario Kart website. Unfortunately, you can't share your tracks until you register a new account at the Line Rider website. Line Rider 2 expands the original game's create-a-track mode to include a puzzle mode, and the ability to create and share puzzles and tracks over Nintendo’s Wi-Fi Connection. There is also physics simulation, so you have to pay attention to things like gravity and slope angle. Different-colored lines have different properties, like an accelator line, a slowdown line, a line that falls out from under you, etc. The trick here is to get your character from point A to point B without falling off the track. The gameplay differences are minimal, making this a hard purchase to recommend.įor the uninitiated, Line Rider is a very simple game in which you draw a line for the little character to ride a sled on. Line Rider 2 is a DS game that costs actual money. The main problem is this: Line Rider is a free online Flash game that you can play on the internets until the cows come home. Or you could buy Line Rider 2: Unbound, by far the worst move of all of these. If you continued to save your dough, you could afford Wario Land: Shake It!. ![]() If you scrounged around for a little bit extra, you could go buy the super-special edition of Iron Man-the one with the mini-bust of Tony Stark's metallic persona. You could take your significant other out to a movie and still afford popcorn. You could go to Chili's and get a great steak dinner with all the fixin's. Now, think of all the things you could do with it. Whether it’s your job, allowance, or finding it on the street somewhere, you earned that money. Take $30 out of your wallet, and look at it. At the same time, the rise of online video has eroded television ad revenue as traditional TV audiences shrink and movie ticket sales remain below pre-pandemic levels.Let's do an experiment together. Many streaming services, however, have yet to turn a profit after companies spent billions of dollars on programming to try and attract customers.ĭisney, Comcast Corp's (CMCSA.O) NBCUniversal and Paramount Global (PARA.O) each lost hundreds of millions of dollars from streaming in the most recent quarter. "There's money being made and it needs to be allocated in a way that takes care of people who are on the margins." "You have to make $26,000 a year to qualify for your health insurance and there are a lot of people who get across that threshold through their residual payments," actor Matt Damon said at a promotional event held for the film "Oppenheimer" on Wednesday. ![]() "This is the worst time in the world to add to that disruption."Īctors say the rise of the streaming era has made it harder to earn their livelihoods, especially for the many thousands of SAG-AFTRA members who are not household names. "It's very disturbing to me," Iger said, noting the entertainment industry's ongoing recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Hollywood has not faced simultaneous strikes since 1960, when members of the WGA and the Screen Actors Guild both walked off the job in a fight over residuals from films sold to TV networks.ĭisney CEO Bob Iger, speaking from a gathering of media and tech moguls at a resort in Idaho, told CNBC on Thursday that the writers' and actors' unions had unrealistic expectations. But the loss of actors, who will also not promote their films or TV shows while on strike, will put more pressure on media companies to find a resolution. ![]() Some production work not involving SAG-AFTRA performers can proceed, such as location scouting or some post-production editing. It will also hamper many overseas shoots involving SAG-AFTRA talent, such as Paramount Pictures' sequel to "Gladiator," which director Ridley Scott has been shooting in Morocco and Malta. The walkout by SAG-AFTRA, which represents actors from bit-part players to Hollywood's biggest movie stars, will effectively shutter the studios' remaining U.S.-based productions of film and scripted television. ![]()
